Keep Your Existing Fax Number

How do I get started?

Moving to an online fax solution does not mean you have to get a new fax number. You can keep your existing fax number by porting it to your new FaxSalad service. Follow the steps below to get started.

Step 1. Signup for a FaxSalad account

If you haven't already created a FaxSalad account, you can do so here. You are welcome to immediately set up your billing details or wait until the number has ported. Just follow the prompts on signup.

Step 2. Download the Porting Letter of Authorization

The Porting LOA (Letter of Authorization) gives us the authority to transfer the fax number from your current carrier.

Double-check the following list to help avoid any delays in the porting process.

The number/s must currently be active and remain in service throughout the entire porting process.
The service address must match that address on file with your current carrier. Please note: we cannot accept PO boxes.
If the fax number is associated with any additional services, such as an internet service, phones, or an alarm system, you must alert us to this when submitting the port request.

Step 3. Submit the number port request

To submit the number port request, you will need to email the following documents to porting@faxsalad.com.

The LOA completed and signed.
A copy of your most recent phone bill, preferably from within the last 30 days that shows the account, owner/authorized user name, and address information for all of the number/s you'd like to port.
Details regarding any additional or complex services associated with the number/s you'd like to port.

If you use an online fax provider or any other service that does not supply phone bills, then a screenshot of your online fax portal showing the fax numbers will be a suitable alternative to a phone bill. If you are unsure of what to submit, please reach out to our team.

Step 4. FaxSalad ports your number/s

Our team will coordinate the number port with your existing carrier and notify you of any updates and once a porting date is locked in. The entire process generally takes between 1-6 weeks.

You can begin sending faxes before the number ports completion. If you require a temporary inbound solution, please reach out to our team.

How much does it cost?

We currently do not charge any fees for number ports that involve four or fewer fax numbers. Once the port has completed, you will be charged monthly or as part of a plan as per FaxSalad's pricing.

How long does it take?

The entire process generally takes between 1-6 weeks. More complex ports can take upwards of 120 days in some instances.

Before submitting your port request, please ensure all details are accurate, and there are no complex services or circumstances with the existing carrier that could delay the port.

Can I start using FaxSalad right away?

You can begin using FaxSalad right after you sign up for an account. An active fax number is not required to send a fax.

If you want to begin receiving faxes before the number ports completion, you can purchase a temporary fax number from FaxSalad and setup a divert your faxes with your existing carrier.
